The Great Oaks Manor Proprietors
Mutual friends introduced Fred to Carey in her
pastry shop in Portland, Oregon. Carey grew up in the San
Francisco area where she trained as a pastry and garde manger
chef.
Fred, an automotive instructor from Arizona who has a strong
talent for home remodeling, and Carey, who has a great love of
interior design, began thinking about a bed and breakfast
venture. When an opportunity presented itself in the form of a
grand old Texas manor, it was a dream come true for the couple,
who have restored the mansion, doing most of the work
themselves.
Carey and Fred reside on the property with their pets; two small
rescue dogs, Joey and Baxter, Sox, a big gray kitty rescued from
the pound, and Rusty, an orange kitty tamed after he was born to
a wild barn cat. The pets spend their days in lazy recline in
the owner's quarters or out in their own fenced yard. They are
not allowed in guest areas. However, if you are allergic, please
use your own judgment in making reservations.
